Chemical Composition (typical values)

• Mn: 1.8 – 2.1 %

• Cr: 0.15 – 0.35 %

• V: 0.07 – 0.12 %

• Si: up to 0.40 %

• P, S: max. 0.03 %

Properties

• Good machinability in the annealed condition

• High toughness and wear resistance after hardening

• Very good dimensional stability during hardening (low distortion)

• Hardness after hardening: approx. 62 HRC (at optimal hardening and tempering)

Heat Treatment

• Soft annealing: 710 – 740 °C, slow cooling, max. hardness 229 HB

• Hardening: 790 – 820 °C, quenching in oil

• Tempering: 150 – 200 °C (depending on required hardness), hardness 58 – 62 HRC
