• C (Carbon): 0.33 – 0.45 %

• Cr (Chromium): 15.5 – 17.0 %

• Mo (Molybdenum): 1.0 – 1.3 %

• Mn: max. 1.00 %

• Si: max. 1.00 %

• P: max. 0.030 %

• S: max. 0.030 %

Properties

• Supplied in pre-hardened condition (QT) with hardness approx. 280 – 325 HB (30 – 34 HRC).

• Excellent corrosion resistance (also against aggressive plastics and cooling water).

• Good polishability – suitable for optical moulds.

• Stable structure, good machinability in QT condition.

• Possibility of nitriding for increased surface hardness.

Heat Treatment
(Usually not performed, as the steel is already supplied in QT condition)

• Annealing: 750 – 800 °C, slow cooling.

• Hardening: 1000 – 1040 °C, oil or air quenching.

• Tempering: 200 – 300 °C (to achieve hardness 50 – 54 HRC if additional treatment is required).
