Properties

• Stainless tool steel.

• Excellent corrosion resistance.

• Very good polishability – suitable for moulds requiring mirror surface finish.

• Good wear resistance.

• Good dimensional stability during hardening.

• Hardness after hardening: approx. 50 – 54 HRC.

Heat treatment

• Annealing (soft): 740 – 800 °C, slow furnace cooling; hardness max. 230 HB.

• Hardening: 1000 – 1050 °C, quenching in air or oil.

• Tempering: 100 – 250 °C depending on required hardness.

Applications

• Plastic moulds (especially for aggressive plastics and optical parts).

• Tools requiring high gloss and corrosion resistance.

• Cutting and surgical instruments.

• Parts exposed to moisture or corrosive environments.
