Properties

• High tensile strength and toughness after heat treatment.

• Good fatigue resistance, suitable for dynamically stressed parts.

• Can be quenched in oil or water.

• Hardness after quenching and tempering: approx. 50 – 58 HRC (depending on treatment).

• Excellent spring properties and dynamic load capacity.

Heat treatment

• Hardening: 830 – 870 °C, quench in oil or water.

• Tempering: 420 – 600 °C (depending on required hardness/elasticity).

• Annealing for springs: 680 – 720 °C.

Applications

• Coil springs, leaf springs, torsion bars.

• Stabilizers and suspension components in automotive industry.

• Highly stressed machine parts.
