Chemical Composition (typical values)

• C (Carbon): 0.95 – 1.10 %

• Cr (Chromium): 1.30 – 1.65 %

• Mn: 0.25 – 0.45 %

• Si: 0.15 – 0.35 %

• S: max. 0.025 %

Properties

• Very high hardness and wear resistance after hardening.

• Good dimensional stability during heat treatment.

• High compressive strength and toughness.

• Lower corrosion resistance (not stainless steel).

Heat Treatment

• Annealing: 740 – 800 °C, slow cooling.

• Hardening: 830 – 860 °C, quenching in oil.

• Tempering: 150 – 200 °C (achieved hardness approx. 60 – 64 HRC).
